The Drahna Chronicles - Enter Drahna

#

Rhonin sighed again as he re-read the report. They were right, his old friend truely was a criminal against magic. Eydrana was a necromancer and necromancy was an offense punishable by death. His wife continued to give him the 'I told you so honey' and he just didn't want to hear it anymore. Eydrana was going to rot in the Violet Hold unless something drastic was done. Veressa's idea of drastic was to just execute the traitor. Rhonin had another idea but how to pull it off would be difficult. They couldn't allow another Kel'Thuzad to run around to be sure, but killing Eydrana seemed more of a tragic end to her already tragic life. The question came back again and it was 'What to do with Eydrana Lady Arduin?'.

Eydrana, she had been very wealthy. The only child of Arduin a senior member of the Magesters of Dalaran and one of the founders, Eydrana had been given everything she could ever want. Her father however decided long ago to use her as was custom to build more wealth and gain more lands. So he attempted to marry her off 12 times. All of her 'husbands' either died before they married her or shortly after the ceremony from mysterious accidents/illnesses or there was the one that was caught having sex with a sheep. That one died a few days later from brain fever.

Eydrana had been spoiled, rich and beautiful. She had a manicure like no other and was to most a beautiful thing until the day she left Dalaran. They heard a few weeks later that the spoiled rich girl had joined the Horde and somehow, she managed to join the militant terrorist organization known as the Blacktooth Grin. A year after that was heard, rumor passed that she was dead. The tale was strange, some said she helped a warlock make an evil gem. In its creation and realizing its power, it was than rumored that she died sacrificing herself to destroy the creation. However, it was told later that she failed and her assistance in the creation of the gem ended up stealing the soul of a warchief. The gem itself was later broken.

Somehow though she came back to life or came back from hiding. Whichever it was and not long after that Rhonin got word she might have been a necromancer. The story was she had grouped up with a Death Knight and that Death Knight used her like a puppet. It wasn't until they found Arduin dead and the doll and pieces of living tissue around the remains of the doll that, what had been a rumor became truth. Eydrana was a Necromancer and the worst part was, no one found any Death Knight. Instead they were able to verify that Eydrana was on her own and with her own powers, creating undead minions.

They caught her in Zul'Drak a few days later in an abandoned Necropolis. She was in the process of building her own ghoul. From that moment on she had been in custody, well she was after the fight that is. It took 30 of them to finally bring her down with all her mana and evasions, not to mention the ice magic she still knew so well. They hauled her to Dalaran, informed the Horde and dragged her into the Violet Hold kicking and screaming. Once she was booked she had shut her mouth and stopped fighting. No one could get a word out of her other then creepy poetry she would mumble in her interrogations. She had been there ever since, the last 2 months.

"Sire" a priestess bowed before him holding the summons he had a messenger give to her.

"Matron Ossela, thank you for coming so quickly." he said and shut the door behind her. This was his one and only sanctuary in the sanctuary of Dalaran. He put up an anti magical field and began quickly whispering to her. The elder Priestess's eyes kept widening and narrowing then widening. She was the one and only woman in the entire city he was sure had some sympathy for the necromancer Eydrana. After all, Eydrana's mother Lunaurica had been a Priestess, and died honorably with Ossela as her apprentice.

"Do you wish to do this?" Rhonin asked finally after divulging his plan.

"Do I want to, I'm not sure. That girl has been a brat for ages. But her father was an ass, so I suppose what else was she to become." Matron Ossela sighed but nodded. "I'll do it. But I need to be sure we remove everything from her mind that could ever bring her back to magic." she said.

"As you wish, I leave her parole to you." Rhonin bowed and opened the door.

"Yeah, great" she muttered turning to leave, but was stopped as Rhonin handed her another scroll.

"Everyone will know you do this with my will. Whatever it is that you need to accomplish this, just do it. I warn you for her sake and ours, give no clues that we are doing this for her life. Make them think this is worse then death" his voice was quiet but grave.

"Trust me, no one will know. Not even Veressa." Matron Ossela vowed and took the scroll.

An hour later she walked into the dimness that was Violet Hold. After the attempts by Malygos to destroy it and let the prisoners take over were stopped, the next fix was to make it more sound. The worst criminals were now held in lower ends of the Hold and held in solitary. Eydrana was clasped in magic damping shackles on her arms and legs. She was surrounded by an anti magic field and held in a wall of anti magical metal and bars. The thin mage was wrapped in a gown of plain cloth and had pulled it around her. She pulled the hood over her head keeping her face in shadow. Her hands were clasped softly together. The new body she was in was warmer now, and it was thanks to Kellexar after all for he was the one that put her in the new body.

As the sound of footsteps came in, the necromancer sat with her feet planted on the ground. Her small framed sitting, wrapped in the plane brown robe was more then a little bit evil. The eyes were all the Matron really could see in the hooded face. Eyd's eyes were so evil, and it was clear nothing of the sweet girl remained. Her blond tendrils of hair escaped the edges of the hood, giving her an ethereal yet destructive halo appearance of sorts around her shadowed face.

"I thought I wasn't allowed visitors." Eydrana's wicked voice echoed in the silence.

"No, you aren't allowed visitors. I'm not a visitor, I'm your new warden." The Matron stood straight and glowered at the small mage.

Eyd moved her head up and smiled, the one tooth missing her her mouth was eerie. "Oh good a new toy." and that smile slid over her face.

"Eydrana Arduin, lady of the lands nearest Alterac, you are hearby stripped of your lands, titles and wealth. Everything that was yours has been given to your precious Horde as the new Warchief has requested. Hellscream has benefited from your demise, and now you have nothing." Ossela said.

"Hellscream?" Eyd asked wondering what the woman was talking about.

"Ah that's right, no one gives you news. No matter, you pretty soon won't remember it even if I tell you. The time has come Eydrana. You are no longer even important. You are about to be something different, and more then a nobody. You're about to be a test to see if priests in this city can actually heal a broken mind."

Eyd's eyes narrowed. "You're pitiful priests aren't going to be able to change me. Don't you know who you are even talking to? I've survived death, I've survived undeath. I am more then anything you can contend with woman and I can and will be more then you in the grand scheme of this world. This world will hear the name Eydrana and they will shudder and quake in fear."

"Eydrana, when I get done with you, you won't even know the word Eydrana. I'm not worried about you or your threats." Matron Ossela smirked and nodded her head. Two rogues appeared to the side of Eydrana and she glared.

"What is going on?" she demanded. As she struggled her eyes flashed white and then she crashed to her knees in pain. The magic dampeners had burned deep into her arms and legs.

The pins moved faster then she could speak, one on either side of her neck as the rogues had shoved them into her skin. It took a minute, she struggled still cursing and angry. She tried again to cast something but the chains bit into her further and she gurgled blood from biting her lip. The rogues vanished and Eydrana slumped over. A paladin walked in, nodding to Olessa and unlocked Eydrana from her wall. He re-shackled her and carried her out.

"You're sure the mind numbing and sleeping poisons are going to keep her out long enough?" She demanded of nothing in the room.

"It will" the voice said behind her and she felt the man move past her.

"Good. Stay nearby if I need you both." she said and walked out of the cell.

Three months went by rather fast after that. Eydrana was tied to a table and was bombarded with mind control and altering of her memories and brain. Everything was up in the air, and only Matron Olessa was controlling her prime family memories. Her magical spell memories and all of that were being butchered by any priest in Dalaran who wanted to learn how to rewrite a brain. Every day after it was done, The Matron would evaluate. Little by little all of her memories were being stripped away, except two. One was a face, and the other was a cause. The Grin, it stayed there but nothing about it or why. Just the fact that she would work for them and do her best. The face well, only the Matron knew why that should remain. If there was one person in Azeroth that could save whatever remained of Eydrana's soul it was him. Finding him on the other hand was far more difficult then most would know.

After three months Eydrana didn't remember or know her name. She barely knew her own race or creed. Matron Olessa walked into a room where there was a demure blonde woman holding her knees to her chest and quiet. "Hello child" the Matron smiled.

"Hello" the reply was soft and confused.

"How are you this morning?" the Matron asked.

"Good ma'am" the small voice replied.

"Today I think we are going to teach you a new skill little one. Something to occupy your time." The Matron nodded. A shadow moved and headed toward the small girl cowering meekly.

"Oh no!" the girl shuddered in fear as the shadow emerged. The rogue smirked under his mask and held out his hand. "I'm not going to kill you this time kid" his voice was just as much a shadow as the one he had slid free from. The Matron nodded and stood. " Child" she said looking at the girl with the fear on her eyes. The girl turned her head and looked at her.

"Yes ma'am?" she asked with her voice quaking in fear.

"What is your name?" the Matron asked.

"Um...." she now had a blank look in her eyes. "Rah?" she asked.

The rogue hid his smile now clearly pleased. The Matron kept her poker face. "No." she asked again. "What is your name?"

"D. D..Drahna?" the girl stuttered.

The Matron seemed pleased. "Drahna, how old are you?" she asked another question.

"I'm... um... 25?" she said. The Matron beamed. In truth Eyd was very old, but if she thought she was less then 100 then things were working well. "Yes, you are 25 Drahna. Now, go with the man. He's going to teach you how to defend yourself properly." the Matron said and left them. The last thing she saw was Drahna cowering again.

Three months later the Matron came back into the cell. No longer were the anti magic shackles but the walls were still very much as powerful. The bars and the chains she had thousands of locks on them and her hands were kept far apart. Though, in the Matron's eyes it wasn't because she could at all do any lock picking.

In truth Drahna was one of the worst rogues she had ever seen. She had the basics, but no stamina and her agility was lacking as well. It would take time but the girl was about as threatening as a mosquito bite. The point was now was time to make sure her education on the world was rerouted. Dranah spent the next 6 months learning simple and very detailed studies of the Horde and the Alliance. She relearned what happened in Outland, relearned what happened in Northrend and the war against Arthas. Mostly she relearned her role of history and she wasn't a part of any of it. 10 months after the completion of Orgrimmar from Deathwing's destruction, and two months after the Firelands had finally opened, the Matron was ready.

She unlocked the gate to the Violet Hold and behind her came a meek and timid girl wearing leather, having some bags and wearing a small dagger and a mace. The girl was shy and quiet, not at all what she had been. She walked with her eyes downcast. As they left the prison that was when she felt it, something was following her. She looked behind her and saw a shadow. It wasn't a rogue's shadow though, it was something else. It sneered at her and she heard in her mind

"I'm watching you and will watch over you". The voice was female, wicked and clearly no one else heard it. Taking this shadow as another guard watching her for her parole she nodded. After all she had just been in prison for murdering someone. She didn't remember the murder but they told her what she had done. She killed a woman for her shoes. She wouldn't do that again, unless it was Alliance and she was supposed to. She wouldn't kill a civilian ever again.

The Matron nodded. "My contacts have found your cousin dear. We are heading that way now. This will be a long trip, but you will no longer be my charge. My job is is over."

Drahna nodded her head. She now stood very still. Her blonde hair was up in a tight bun, her face covered slightly by a large neck piece that covered her mouth to her nose. Her earrings gleamed but were smaller then they had been before. The pink leather gleamed in its brand new stitching. She had been dressed this way, though in all honesty she wasn't very sure this is how she should look. She felt uncomfortable in her skin and her nerves shown. She had been nervous for days, and her nails were the proof as they were chewed to nubs.

"Yes ma'am" she said softly. She was going to have to figure out where she was needed. She had two things ringing in her mind. The first thing was the 'Grin' and the second was a face. Whatever the 'Grin' was though, she was going to do anything and everything to help them. That had been going in her brain for some time. The mage near them opened a portal to Shattrath. They were going somewhere called 'Stormspire'. She wasn't at all familiar with any of it.

Four hours later Drahna found herself in a predicament. For as long as she could remember she had been guarded by someone. Either her parents who guarded her, or the jailers who guarded her. Now, she was actually alone. Alone? This was foreign to her to say the least. She heard a familiar giggle, realized she wasn't actually alone. The creepy darkness was near her still. She had in essence a constant companion but not one she would consider welcoming. Regardless of the evil thing that loomed nearby, she was going to consider herself alone.

When she had stepped into Shattrath there had been a contingency of 4 guards and Matron Olessa. She was shackled at the feet and her hands. She had a long chain and large shackled spiked metal collar around her throat and each chain was being held by a different guard. She was not aloud to speak though, honestly she wouldn't have know what to say even if she had been allowed. They mounted her on a Netherdrake and then all of the group flew to Netherstorm. For the first time in her entire life Drahna saw Outland and marveled at it.

The beauty of Zangarmarsh's lakes filled with the deep blues and greens made her sigh in awe. The needle like peaks of Blade's Edge Mountains made her dizzy and fearful. The purple broken rock of Netherstorm gave her goosebumps and those goosebumps increased as she passed the now lost Mana Forges. There was still so much lost mana in the air, and its touch made her groan. Her brain gave her two signals, one of intense pleasure and the other of horrific pain.

The feelings were not missed by the Matron. She looked at Drahna stiffly and smirked. "This is a place of death for our people. Remember, mana pulls are what brought our people their demise Drahna. Do not even for a moment think you are immune to such demise." She chided.

Drahna nodded, she had been warned. Magic was death to Sin'Dorei and she knew if she was going to live it would be better not to be near it. Still, the lose mana falling onto her skin caused those aches. Why did they feel familiar though? Maybe it was just the fact that she was in Dalaran for so long. She wasn't sure but she was going to get away from it as soon as she could.

It was only moments later she was dragged off the top of the Netherdrake and shoved into a dim room. The Matron nodded to the guards and disappeared into a room. Drahna could hear talking but didn't understand what was said. She just waited patiently. After several minutes the Matron came back out and nodded. "Unlock her. She is free."

The men unlocked all of the chains and Drahna was pushed into a dim room by the shoulder by the Matron. She stopped and looked at her shoes as the Matron made the introductions. "Drahna, this is your cousin Vhares. He will take custody of you at this point. Do as he says and do not do anything that will get you back into jail. We won't be as lenient. Vhares, this is your Cousin, Drahna." the Matron announced, bowed her head and left.

Drahna looked up finally and was shocked. So that was the man she kept seeing in her dreams? She wasn't sure why she saw his face so clear in her mind, but now the shadows around him spun and moved with chaos. He was darker then any light could penetrate in that shade, and she was instantly intimidated. But something in his voice brought her comfort. Something about him was not going to hurt her and she just knew that by instinct.

He didn't say much, he asked her questions. He told her about the Grin and he basically in his very Vhares way warned her that if she didn't get any battle time in she was going to be useless to her.

At first she was shocked that he was in the Blacktooth Grin, something she had been told was a heroic group by one side of Dalaran and warned of its traitorous ways by the other side whenever she was given exercise time to walk around the city. People like to talk whenever they think someone is insignificant or not there at all.

"I don't have battle time sir" Drahna said woefully, "But I promise you I will have it. I will not kill Civilians again. I will kill if the Horde asks me to, or if the Grin needs me to. If that is your wish I would be happy to" she vowed. Her cousin bowed his head, gave her a day and place to meet and she wrote it quickly on her new notepad. She stuck the paper in her bra and saluted him. It was at that moment he picked up his hearthstone, looked forward into nothing and just vanished. She hadn't even a chance to ask him where she was going to live yet.

"Huh" she said alone now in a room with some strange men that obviously worked for her cousin. "So um.. " she asked one of them. "I need to find a battlemaster?" she asked.

"Orgrimmar" he smirked and all of the men in the room pushed past her and left. "Uh... right... how do I get there?" she tried to ask but well, there was no answer.

For the next hour the Etherials gave her little information but she was able to get a wyvern to Area 52. Then after asking a few Goblins she managed to get an understanding on how to even get to Kalimdor much less Orgrimmar. Two hours after that, a miserable ride on a wyvern who as cross eyed to Shattrath, and a portal into Orgrimmar later, Drahna was sitting on a rock confused and alone.

Alone. She was alone. No one was there just her, and well that dark evil shade. She wouldn't acknowledge it anymore, it was too scary. She had no one to tell her what to do or how. Could she handle this? She wasn't sure. The worst part was people kept asking her 'Hey don't I know you? Oh you're not her. My mistake." and it was ticking her off. She didn't know anyone. She grew up in Ambermill until her parents died. Then she killed some girl for her shoes because she was cold. Next thing she knew she was in jail and she had been so since she was 11. After all, that was 14 years ago.

Drahna sighed and looked at her pitiful armor. It was pink and crinkled as the leather was rough on her. She really did need to get into a battle. Now was a good of a time as any. She walked down the path to the Battlemasters and signed her name on the sheet. At first, the huge Orc smirked at her. "Are you kidding me?" he demanded.

"What?" She asked.

"Listen pipsqueek, if you just want to be killed fast that's fine. You're not going to live very long without any real armor and even less if you can't hold your weight." he smirked again.

She stood straight and showed him her brand new dagger and mace. "Listen bub" she barked back. "Now I might be a pipsqueek and I might not be very well armored but I sure as hell am not going to die today. Not you or the Alliance is going to kill me. There's no way anyone has that bad of luck." She snarled.

He laughed. He laughed so hard he nodded and shoved her into the portal. "I'll send a body bag for ya blondie. Good Luck!" was the last thing she heard before she got into the cave.

The rest of the week was a blur. She nearly died a billion times, but there was always an angel to heal her and send her back out. And just when the battle was one, she was pushed back into Orgrimmar and the big orc was always there with a surprised look on his face. He gave her currency every time and shoved her back in. She saw snow, and forest. She saw beaches and Netherstorm again. She saw all sorts of places but mostly she saw death. She learned how to poison her blades and mace from a Troll who took pitty on her. She learned how to backstab from a Goblin who refused to talk to her until she got one thing right. She figured out how to sneak past guards and garote a Warlock from a Sin'Dorei who happened to find her cute and though maybe she'd sleep with him for the tip. He was wrong of course but she did blow him a kiss later before he vanished to another Battle somewhere else. She learned how to Faint from the Orc woman who punched her in the face for asking one too many dumb questions while everyone was preparing their armor for another battle.

The better she was at hiding and stabbing, the more death she saw. After a little bit she even had enough currency to get herself a shiny new throwing star. When she finally lie down in the inn in Orgrimmar three days later, she was relieved. She could protect herself and she even could fight. Even the big mean Orc said so when she staggered past him to get some much needed rest finally.

As she prepared to sleep she looked at herself in the polished steel mirror in the room she was in. She had pealed off the armor that was now stuck to her body from the blood and cuts that had melded it to her skin. She was cut, bruised and gashed. She had two broken ribs that had been reset by a Druid who took pity on her. They felt squishy still but she was able to breathe now. Her nose was back in place after a Shaman helped her out. In all she was okay, just a bloodied mangled mess. Her blonde hair was pink at the base from the sweat and blood that had mixed and been soaked up by her hair. She took a wash cloth and the basin of water and bowl and cleaned all of the gore off of her. She was actually happy with herself, she had been useful. When she was clean and dry, she slid into a plain robe that she purchased for 15 copper from one of the vendors and then slid into the hay lined bed.

The one thing she had stopped to do between all these battles was learn how to be a good Grunt from the Orgrimmar Grunts. She learned that if she was going to be a good Horde soldier she needed to just be one by doing what she was told and never questioning anything. She would do that, even if it meant being a peon. She could do that.

"Remember this. Gromsday 5 bell tolls after noon. Be there Kindred" She said reading her paper again. She would be there, and hopefully the Grin would find her worthy. She surely wanted to be worthy.
