Dethlexia wrote:Destruction...decades of flawless military bearing, centuries of honing my arts, millenia of mastering magics, but nothing could prepare me for this. The demons have returned. Dalaran ruined in seconds, but this crumbling city means nothing to me compared to the heartache and utter loss that came just hours before. We all knew what this meant, though it's been ten thousand years since our kind has felt it: our fount of power was defiled. Our capital obliterated.
-Betrayal...our race scattered, our way of life erased, and how do our greatest "allies" assist us? Suicide missions! A dying culture clinging to what little we still had. Sent out on our own against impossible odds. The Scourge may have devestated our people, but the "Alliance" sought the killing blow. Centuries of nurturing this race of barbarians, who lived in hovels of wood and mud, into a civilized people, to be used as an expendable tool when we are at our weakest. Now I sit amongst our people in the very cells which I have guarded for so long. The remainder our race: to be executed. How wrong we were to think humans would ever be anything other then mongrels.
-Redemption! from the ashes of oblivion, our once great people will rise again! Led by the great Kael'thas into this forgotten world teething with untapped magics. We have survived much hardship, gained and lost allies, done the unthinkable to survive, but through the Outlands, we will redeem ourselves. The rampant demons now bow to their new lords. The Gods of this land now our tools. The very land itself feeds us! Our people rebuilding the once great Quel'thalas must know the news. I have been chosen as the messenger. To spread the word of salvation to our people...
"...Are you sure this is safe, my lord? I do not trust these ethereals." "Trust me, Lady Fairewing, they have travelled the universe: they are masters of space and time. Our people need to know of the great things we are doing here, without your word, they may lose hope." "As you wish, my lord. I will have the message to Regent Lord Lor'themar immediately." BzzzZZZZzzzzzt The Twisting Nether! A tempest of arcane, violently decimating my very being...Somethings wrong! Damn this alien technology! I have been cast into nothing, to be devoured by the raw powers of the universe. After all I have seen...All I have learned...No! It will not end this way! Centuries honing my arts! Millenia of mastering magic! I will not let magic take me this day... -17 years later...
The Sunfury Spire...I have arived! It must have been days fighting off the volatile magics of the Nether, and I have won! My armor destroyed, my body shattered...A bloody husk, but alive. I can barely crawl, but I manage to drag myself to the main hall. "Lor...Lor'them..." "What is this? Guards! Lady Fairewing has returned!" "I...bear news...hope..." Lore'themar inspects the broken spellbreaker, confused. "Bring her to the sunwell...She is too far gone for our healers. Go!" "...Wha? Sun..." exhaustion.
I awake in a fount of pure light. I have been renewed, my wounds minimal. My power restored...It cannot be! A year of trials in the Outlands, a year of horrors...and our people have risen without us. Was it all for nothing? Lor'themar takes a knee and offers me his hand. "What news do you bring, my lady?" I take his hand as he helps me back on my feet. "The sunwell! It has returned! How many months since its rebirth?" Lor'themar lets out a confused laugh. "Months? My lady, it's been nine years!" "What!? But...I...no!" As I step away from the sunwell, I look around in panic. Serene, yet concerned faces of our people look back at me. Lor'themar, assuring, gives an honest smile and reaches his hand out once more. I look to him and retain my bearing. I smile back, and once again reach my arm out for his...what? As my hand comes into vision, I realize I am quickly fading away...Everything suddenly goes black.
Screams! Roars! One moment the room is filled with elves with the deepest peace set in their eyes, and now I see races of all kinds fighting demons surrounding the sunwell! Was it all just a dream? The sunwell stands before me, still defiled and broken, and it seems the demons planned an attack before we could get the message home. As I once again stand dumbfounded, a gigantic ominous figure crawls from out of the shattered sunwell... My armor broken, my weapons decintegrated, I cannot defend myself...but wait! A fallen spellbreaker. The killing blow ripped through the shield, it is unsalvagable. I take his glaive and begin twirling around myself at full sprint, mowing down all demons between me and the sunwell. In my peripheral, I see Lor'themar held down by two enormous demons, while a third slowly drags an axe to his face. I leap onto its shoulders, and plunged my glaive deep into its skull. Flipping off the fresh corpse, I twirl my glaive once more, beheading the other two demons before me. I take a knee and smile, offering Lor'themar my hand. Still dazed, he nods and allows me to help him back on his feet.
With our combined efforts, the demons were defeated, and the larger one was pushed back into his hole. A small group of all races stood around the shattered sunwell, speaking amongst themselves. As I looked around, I saw faces of our people...Scared, desperate, empty. This is why I have returned: they need hope...They've needed it for so long. "Sin'dorei! Our people have suffered so much over these years...From the destruction to our beloved Quel'thalas to the unforgivable betrayals of those whom we trusted most...but I come from a forgotten realm to spread words of our redemption! Our new allies, as alien as they may seem, will assist us in paving the way to the road of glory! Believe me when I say...from the ashes our people will continue to rise, continue to transcend! So remember this...I have come all this way, suffered many trials, to give my people that which has been robbed from us so long ago...HOPE!" ...And at that very moment, an explosion of light erupted from behind me...The sunwell has returned! I slowly turn around, immersed in the glory of our mighty fountain. I kneel down to hide my face, and slowly begin to weep. To witness the rebirth of the sunwell...the rebirth of my people...no words...can describe...
