Not every troll returns to Bwon'samdi upon death...Not every troll even returns to a Loa...
Perhaps that was what drew the Lich King to Azhei's spirit, wandering among the Spirit Island Bwon'samdi called home. Perhaps it was, unlike almost every other spirit on the island, Azhei knew he was dead and lifeless. Either way, Arthas, The Lich King, came to the Spirit Island and found Azhei stalking a panther.
"Child of the Zandalari," Arthas said, "Come with me...Rejoin the ranks of the living, and help me conquer this world. I shall make you a Death Knight, First among my servants, that you may partake in the power and glory of The Scourge!"
Azhei found himself drawn to those words, the promise of power and standing among the living creatures who had slain him those many centuries ago. He sized Arthas up to gain a measure of the man behind the words, and was about to speak when Bwon'samdi appeared before Arthas, binding Azhei tight to the ground.
"What be the meanin' of this, King of da Scourge? Dis be my island, and my People," Bwon'samdi said. "Before you be takin' any of dem, ya had best be comin' ta me..."
Arthas bowed low, "Loa Bwon'samdi. I require the services of this troll behind you, and others like him. For now though, he will suffice for my needs. Do not make me take him by force. Though you are indeed powerful, I command the might of an army that has not been recorded on this or any other world. I would hate to have to lay waste to your island for one measly soul."
Bwon'samdi roared with laughter, "Lay waste ta my island, mon? Da sword at yer side must've robbed ya of more 'an just yer home, if ya be tinkin you be able ta take MY ISLAND!"
"Dis one be special to Bwon'samdi. If you be wantin to take him wit ya, ya must be leavin sometin of his Troll Ancestors behind. Leave me wit his speech, dat I may listen to it long afta he is gone from 'ere. He no be needin' it in ya army..." With that, Bwon'samdi reached into Azhei's throat, and tore out the parts of his soul that governed how and what he spoke. "From dis day forward Azhei, ya will not be able ta match the speech of ya people. On da day ya return to dis Island for good, I will give it back to ya."
Bwon'samdi placed Azhei's speech into his belt pouch, and vanished into the mists. Arthas motioned for Azhei to follow him, and they both left the Island.
Azhei rolled over next to the campfire, surprised at where his dreams had taken him. He had not thought of that day in many a decade, but did not regret following Arthas from those shores. He picked himself off of the ground, packed up his camp equipment, and began exploring the Mogu catacombs once again. Perhaps he'd bring the Geist out to play with the next batch of wandering souls...
