Operation White Tiger:Crow's Reports

#

Deamseer Xibalbah sits by the fire of her chamber meditating. The sound of something being dragged across the floor broken between sporadic squeaks. Xi opens her eyes and sees the tanuki pushing a leather bag in her direction. She arches her eyebrow at it as it stops a few few away.

The tanuki stands on its hind legs, salutes and begins to pantomime. With one paw hand it makes a flapping birds bill at it mouth. With its other paw it points at its eye and then makes a small circular motion pointing to its head.

Xi smirks and replys "Croweye? He Sendin' Yah?"

The tanuki claps its paws, chitters at Xi and points to the bag. Xi looks over at the bag and notices across one side crooked bad text reads "RePortFicatives!" It seems to be scrawled in grease.

Hesitantly she opens the bag and peers in...

Giant Broad leaves, sheets of leather, a small wooden box with the words "Carefuls Noo Dropie!!!" written in red on the top. A fish, some sheets of bark. Everything except the fish has been written on. Xi takes out the box and the sheets of bark. The words were burned into the bark the sentences all even more fractured and unintelligible than when Crow talks.

"Oh dis be a mess! What is all dis? Dida he even go to Zouchin Village as he was ordered?"

The Tanuki nods, walks over and takes the bark sheets from Xi. Tanuki begins to lay out the sheets. It begins to rearrange them the torn edges completely mismatched, sometimes over lapping in places. The Tanuki rebuilds the rugsized "Report" by matching up greasy finger prints and blood stains. It steps away and looks up at Xi with a shrug. The barksheet report is about as legible as its going to get for Croweye.

Xibalbah frowns at the report it could still use some clarification. The tanuki walks over to the the small wooden box with the red lettering on top. Opens the lid leans in and pushes the black button on the front of the strange metal "talkbox" inside. A deep basso of trollish chanting crackles from the box. Another troll voice reports in and takes orders. Xibalbah hears the Troll warrior reply "Ya Prophet Khar'zul By you command."

Xi smirks to herself and then look over at the tanuki.

"Not bad. Any ting else?"

The Tanuki nods and walks over to the bag and pulls out the fish...

"Da fish?, What about dees odda tings? Howa fish more important?"

The tanuki reaches back into the bag on pulls out one of the leather sheets randomly. It begins similarly as the other report, begining as an assesment of the horde base in Karasang but it quickly devolves into a long winded rant on what a tiny dumbhead Garrosh is and other assorted rantings on the general dumbness of the Weakhorde. Tanuki puts it back and carries the fish over to Xi.

It's a fine specimen of emperor salmon nearly as long as the tanuki and the tail drags on the ground. Xi reaches towards him with both hands to accept the fish but the tanuki holds up a paw as if to say "Just a moment."

With both paws it pries open the fish's mouth and then reaches in up to his shoulder. The Tanuki pulls out of the fish a small crystal tube with a twist it splits neatly into two halves. He offers the folded parchment scroll inside to Xi letting her remove it from the tube.

The first thing she notices is that it is the first thing she has ever recieved from Croweye that did not smell like gunpower, grease, burnt hair, blood or other unpleasant bodily fluids. It smells of sweet honey, the scroll has been carefully coated with a very fine layer of beeswax.

Xi unfolds the small waxy parchment to reveal a map of a section of the Karasang coastline. The linework of the drawing looks like it was made with a single hair brush. She looks at it closer the amount of details makes her eyes begin to hurt. Trees and plants, wildlife even a few insects somehow are fully detailed. The Northwest corner depicts the Red crane temple even the stonework and carvings are there. Beside its western wall in a clean space of the map is a fancy embellished directional arrow pointing west with the words "Horde Base" written inside. The Northeast corner has a similar arrow that points North easterly "Alliance Port" Below the arrow is The Angler's Wharf and surrounding isles many of the villagers are recognizable. Beside the wharf is a drawing of an unrolled scroll there seems to be words on it.

Xi squints at the parchment and feel a tugging at her hem. Tanuki offers her a small handled lens. Magnified the words become legible.

"Although friendly enough outwardly I do not trust these Pandarians. There are humans living at thier camp most notibly the suspected spy Nat Paegal."

Near the Bottom center of the map is another scroll drawing in the center of Nayeli Lagoon.

"I have bribed the innkeeper and the kitemaster at Marista. I have salted the area with caches of supplies as indicated on this map."

Xi scans over the map, so much detail so many little drawings, broken boats in the water, rocks along the shore, not just the canopy of trees but somehow many of their trunks as well. She looks down at the Tanuki.

"Do ya be knowin where de marks are for da stashes?"

Tanuki nods and holds out his paws for the map. Xi hands it over and he walk around her a little till they are facing the fire and holds up the map between letting the fire back-light the map. The wax dims the light for most of the map making the lines seem to fade however in some places the wax has been removed and the light makes several points of interest pop out on the map. One of the broken beached ships. A half hidden entrance under a tree near a croc coverd beach on one of the isles. The smallest of the fishing villages on the central coast also is highlighted. Xi notices that it is not named and none of the Pandarian villagers look outward at best hey are half turned concealing their faces. Unwritten in ink but cut from the back of the wax are tiny words.

"Secret Keepers"

Xibalbah looks up from the map and over at the rugs sized mess of bark and burnt mispelled "Report" and then back at the intricate cypher map.

"De Croweye, he be very smart or very crazy."

The tanuki nods and hold up two fingers as if to say.

"Yes, Both."
